Getting started with the Yeonhee bot
Yeonhee is a bot that plays music in Discord voice channels. You control it with slash commands and with the buttons on the controller card it posts in the channel. This page assumes the bot is already in your server and covers only the minimum you need to play your first song.
Play your first song in 30 seconds
- Join a voice channel first. If you skip this, the playback and control commands (
/재생(play),/검색(search),/다음재생(play next),/들어와(join),/나가(leave),/일시정지(pause) and so on) all reply only with먼저 음성 채널에 들어가주세요("Please join a voice channel first"). The checking commands (/현재곡(now playing),/대기열(queue),/정보(info),/음악노드_확인(check music nodes)) work outside a voice channel too. - In any text channel, type
/재생and put a song title or link in the검색어(search term) field. - The bot joins your voice channel, starts playing, and posts one controller card in the text channel where you used the command.
- From then on, you don't need to type commands again. Just use the buttons on the card.
/재생 검색어: 아이유 밤편지
→ ✅ `밤편지 - IU`을(를) 대기열에 추가했어요(The reply means "Added 밤편지 - IU to the queue.")
To add more songs, keep using /재생. If something is already playing, the song goes to the end of the queue. If you want to slot it in right after the current song, use /다음재생.
TIP
If you want to pick from the search results yourself, try /검색 instead of /재생. Up to 10 songs appear in a select menu, and the one you pick goes into the queue. See Searching and choosing a source for details.
Commands are slash-only
There are no prefix commands like !재생 or y!play. Yeonhee doesn't read what you type in chat. You control it only through slash commands, buttons, select menus and input boxes.
So there's one way to find commands: type / in the chat box and choose the Yeonhee icon. Every command you can use appears.
Only you can see the bot's replies
Almost every reply to a command comes as a message only you can see (the kind Discord labels "Only you can see this"). Even when you add a song with /재생, nothing shows up on anyone else's screen. The same goes for checking commands like /현재곡, /대기열 and /정보.
Two things stay in the channel for everyone to see.
- Controller card: a playback card. Each server keeps only one. When the song changes, the card updates.
- Playback error notice: if a song fails to play,
⚠️ (곡 이름) 재생 중 오류가 발생했어요("An error occurred while playing (song name)") is posted to the channel.
NOTE
It's normal that "I added a song but there's no trace of it in the channel." To check that it went into the queue, use /대기열 or press the 📜 button on the controller card.
Common snags the first time
The sound is too quiet
A newly added server starts at 8% volume. It isn't broken. That's the default. Turn it up with something like /볼륨 값: 60 (/볼륨 (volume) with 값 (value) 60). The value ranges from 0 to 100. Once you change the volume, it's saved for that server and stays the same next time.
By default, you need the DJ role to change the volume. The default permissions are in the permissions table on Full list of slash commands.
It refuses a song for being too long
With the default settings, songs longer than 10 minutes aren't played. If you see the message below, you've hit this limit.
❌ 이 곡은 너무 길어요. 최대 `10:00`까지 재생할 수 있어요(It means "This song is too long. It can play up to 10:00.")
Items with no set length, such as live streams, aren't affected by this limit.
It refuses the link you added
Not every link works. Only official YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud addresses are accepted. Other addresses are blocked with YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud 공식 링크만 사용할 수 있어요 ("Only official YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud links can be used"). The list of addresses you can use is in Searching and choosing a source.
