Playlists and importing YouTube playlists

Playlists are a dashboard-only feature. You can't create them or play them with Discord commands. Press 플레이리스트 (playlists) in the sidebar and you'll see, in order, the link import box, the 나의 YouTube (my YouTube) section, and your playlist cards. This page explains how to make playlists and the two ways to import YouTube playlists.

Playlists belong to your account, not the server

Knowing this first will save you confusion.

WARNING

Playlists are tied to the account of the person who made them. A playlist you made on server A shows up just the same in server B's dashboard. You can tell because the list doesn't get any shorter when you switch servers. So you can't make a "this server only" list. If you want to keep them separate by server, put the server name in front of the playlist name. On the other hand, people can't see each other's playlists, so to share one, each person has to make their own.

The list is sorted by most recently edited. Adding a song or renaming a playlist moves it to the front.

Making a new playlist

The first slot in the card grid is a dashed 새 플레이리스트 (new playlist) slot. Press it and an input box appears.

  • Enter a name and press OK, and it's created right away and you go into that playlist's details screen.
  • Names are saved up to 80 characters. Anything longer gets cut off.
  • If you press OK with the name empty, nothing happens.
  • There's no limit on how many you can make.

Playlist details screen

Press a card to open it. At the top are the cover (the first song's album art), the name, the number of songs and the total length, plus four buttons.

ButtonWhat it does
전체 재생 (play all)Adds every track to the queue
현재곡 저장 (save current song)Saves the song playing now to this playlist
이름 변경 (rename)Opens an input box to change the name
삭제 (delete)Deletes the playlist immediately, without asking

Below that, the tracks are listed. On each row:

  • Click a song to add it to the queue. (The + button on the right does the same.)
  • Press the X at the far right to take that song out of the playlist. There's no confirmation window.
  • To the right of each song, you see who saved it and its length.

CAUTION

The delete button has no confirmation step. The moment you press it, the playlist and every song in it are gone, and they can't be recovered. Only rename opens an input box, so it's easy to press delete thinking "it'll probably ask me something too" and lose the playlist. The delete button sits right next to rename, on its right, so be especially careful.

There are two ways to add songs

There are two ways to put songs in a playlist: 현재곡 저장 (save current song) and importing a YouTube playlist.

The standard way is to search for the song you want, add it to the queue and get it playing, then press 현재곡 저장 on the playlist details screen. If nothing is playing, you can't save, and you get the English notice current track not found.

Reading the play-all result

When you press play all, the result appears as a notice.

text
12곡을 추가했어요.
10곡을 추가했고 2곡은 건너뛰었어요.

(These mean "Added 12 songs." and "Added 10 songs and skipped 2.")

Skipped songs are videos that were deleted, made private or region-restricted. If not a single song could be added, you get the message below.

text
재생 가능한 곡이 없어요. 삭제/비공개/지역 제한된 YouTube 영상일 수 있어요.

(It means "There are no playable songs. They may be deleted, private or region-restricted YouTube videos.")

If you try to play an empty playlist, it's refused with playlist is empty. Play all also only works while you're in a voice channel.

Importing YouTube playlists: two ways

There are two methods, and they work differently.

Import by linkImport by connecting Google
LoginNot neededGoogle login needed
What you can importPublic playlists you have the link toYour account's playlists (including private ones)
NameThe original playlist nameAlways 나의 YouTube - 원본이름 (my YouTube - original name)
PreviewNone (saved right away)Yes

Paste a YouTube playlist address into the box at the very top of the screen and press 가져오기 (import). The address must include list=. In other words, it has to be a playlist address, not a video address.

When it works, you get a "N곡을 가져왔어요." ("Imported N songs.") notice and go into the new playlist's details screen.

MessageCause
재생목록 링크를 입력해 주세요 ("Please enter a playlist link")The input box is empty
유튜브 재생목록 링크가 아닙니다 (주소에 list= 가 있어야 합니다) ("This isn't a YouTube playlist link (the address must include list=)")You entered a video link or another address
재생목록에서 곡을 찾지 못했습니다 (비공개이거나 빈 목록일 수 있습니다) ("No songs found in the playlist (it may be private or empty)")It's someone else's private list, or an empty list
재생목록을 불러오지 못했습니다: … ("Couldn't load the playlist: …")YouTube couldn't read the list. Try again shortly

Importing by connecting your Google account

Press 연결 (connect) in the 나의 YouTube section to go to the Google login screen. Yeonhee asks for just one permission: YouTube read-only. It doesn't upload videos or change your playlists.

If you don't see the 나의 YouTube section on the screen at all, Google integration isn't available on that server, so use import by link only.

Once connected, your playlists are listed as cards.

  • Press a card to open the preview panel and check its song list.
  • The download icon on the right of a card saves it straight to your library without a preview.
  • 새로고침 (refresh) reloads the list, and 연결 해제 (disconnect) cuts the Google connection. When you disconnect, a "YouTube 연결을 해제했어요." ("Disconnected YouTube.") notice appears, and the playlists you saved stay as they are.

The preview panel has four buttons.

ButtonWhat it does
전체 재생 (play all)Adds it straight to the queue without saving
셔플 재생 (shuffle play)Shuffles the order and adds it to the queue
보관함 저장 (save to library)Copies it into your playlists
XCloses the preview

Song rows also have separate 추가 (add) and 재생 (play) buttons, so you can pick just one song.

These are the messages related to the Google connection.

MessageMeaning
먼저 Google 계정을 연결해 주세요 ("Please connect your Google account first")You haven't connected yet
Google 계정을 다시 연결해 주세요 ("Please reconnect your Google account")The connection expired. Connect again
YouTube 읽기 권한이 부족해요 ("Not enough YouTube read permission")You removed the permission on the consent screen. Connect again
이 Google 계정에 YouTube 채널이 없어서 재생목록을 가져올 수 없어요 ("This Google account has no YouTube channel, so playlists can't be imported")That account has no YouTube channel

If you get some other long notice saying the playlist can't be imported because of a problem on YouTube's side, it isn't something you can fix. Try again in a moment, and if it stays the same, let your server admin know.

When the song count differs from the original

There's a limit to how many songs can be imported at once.

  • If you connect your Google account and import, up to 1,000 songs come in.
  • If you just paste a link without connecting, it's far fewer. It varies by server and is usually around 100 songs.

WARNING

A playlist over the limit is saved cut off, without any notice. If the song count differs from the original, you've hit this limit. If you want to move a big playlist over in full, connect 나의 YouTube first. If that's still not enough, split the playlist on YouTube and import each part.

Your list of playlists shows up to 200, and anything beyond that isn't displayed.

If you repeat import or play all many times in a short time, you get "요청이 너무 많아요" ("Too many requests") and are blocked for a moment. Wait a few minutes and try again. Failing just because you pasted a wrong link won't get you blocked for a while.

Sometimes every song in an imported list shows a length of 0:00. Playback is fine. Only the length display is empty. Deleted and private videos in the list are automatically left out when you import.
