When the bot stops or leaves on its own

When the music stops or the bot disappears from the channel without anyone giving a command, it's usually following a set rule. This page sums up those rules, explains "why the music doesn't start again when people come back," and tells you what to press when that happens.

At a glance

SituationWhat the bot doesTo listen again
No people are left in the voice channelPauses right away and starts a 10-minute timerGo back to the channel and it usually resumes on its own
10 minutes pass like thatClears the queue and leaves the channelAdd songs again from the start with /재생 (play)
The last song in the queue endsStays in the channel waiting, then leaves after 10 minutesWithin those 10 minutes, just use /재생
The bot is forced out of the voice channel (kicked)Cleans up right away and doesn't come backCall it again with /들어와 (join) or /재생

10 minutes is the default, so your server admin may have set it differently.

When everyone leaves

When no people are left in the bot's voice channel, the bot does two things together.

  1. It pauses the song that was playing right away.
  2. It starts a 10-minute timer.

"People" here means members who aren't bots. If only other bots are left in the channel, it counts as empty.

Auto-pause only kicks in if something was actually playing at the time. If playback was already paused, it leaves it as is. The controller message also switches to show paused, so you can tell from the screen whether this rule was triggered.

When people come back

If someone comes back to the channel before the 10 minutes are up, the bot first cancels the leave timer. That part is always the same. What happens next depends on the state just before everyone left.

State just before everyone leftWhen people come back
Playing (the bot paused it automatically)It resumes automatically
Paused by someoneOnly the timer is cancelled. It doesn't resume
Nothing playingThere's nothing to resume

If someone paused it, the music stays paused even when people come back

If someone pressed /일시정지 (pause) before the channel emptied, the bot only cancels the timer when people come back and leaves playback as it is. The bot doesn't leave, and no music plays. If the controller keeps showing paused and the elapsed time isn't moving, this is what happened. Run /다시재생 (resume) or press the ▶️ button on the controller.

After 10 minutes

If no one comes back before time runs out, the bot clears the queue and leaves the voice channel. No separate notice is sent. You can only tell because the controller message changes to an idle card.

The queue isn't kept. It's gone, so to keep listening to the same list, add it again with /재생.

NOTE

If someone joins while the timer is running, the bot doesn't leave and goes back to the "When people come back" rule above. Even if they join at the last moment, the leave is cancelled.

When the queue has finished

Even after the last song finishes, the bot doesn't leave right away. The controller changes to an idle card and the bot stays in the channel. If 10 minutes pass like that, it leaves the channel.

So right after the songs end, you don't need to use /들어와 again. Just use /재생 to keep listening.

On a Premium server, a bot that's idle like this can be used again in another voice channel. If someone plays music in another channel after the queue has ended, that bot may move over there. For details, see Listening in several channels at once.

When the bot is forced out

If an admin kicks the bot from the voice channel, the bot doesn't try to come back and immediately clears that server's playback state. The queue is gone too. To listen again, call it fresh with /들어와 or /재생.

Dragging the bot to another channel may not work properly. If you want to change channels, it's more reliable to join the channel you want yourself and then use /들어와.

Keeping the bot around

24-hour standby mode (so-called 24/7) is not supported right now. Not supported There's also no user command to turn off the automatic cleanup of empty channels. To change the waiting time, a server admin has to adjust the settings.

Other times the music goes quiet

Some situations have nothing to do with the auto-leave rule.

  • When a song fails to play. The bot posts ⚠️ {곡} 재생 중 오류가 발생했어요 ("An error occurred while playing {song}") in the text channel where it sends notices, and moves on to the next song.
  • When playback stops partway. You can only tell because the elapsed time stops going up. Skip it with /스킵 (skip).
  • When there's a problem with the music server. Running a command gives you a message like ⚠️ 음악 서버가 아직 준비되지 않았어요. ("The music server isn't ready yet."). Try again in a moment, and if you keep getting the same message, let your server admin know.
  • When the bot restarts. The bot comes back into the original voice channel with the queue you were listening to. If the channel is empty at that point, the auto-pause rule above applies as is: it pauses as soon as it joins and the 10-minute timer starts. If people are there, playback continues.
