Getting started with the web dashboard
Besides Discord commands, Yeonhee has a web dashboard you use in your browser. It's made so you can handle things on screen that are awkward in the Discord chat box, like searching, reordering the queue, playlists and lyrics. This page covers only the shortest path from getting into the dashboard to adding your first song.
There are four dashboard pages
| Page | What's in it |
|---|---|
| A tour of the dashboard screens | What's in the sidebar, header, main area and bottom player, and which buttons actually work |
| Managing the queue in the dashboard | Reordering, removing songs, and actions you can't undo |
| Playlists and importing YouTube playlists | Making your own playlists and importing YouTube playlists |
| The lyrics panel and history screen | Viewing lyrics, adjusting sync, and songs you've listened to recently |
If you can log in but your server isn't on the list or you can't see the settings menu, that's a permissions issue, not a screen issue. See Who can use the dashboard.
Getting into the dashboard
There's only one address: the dashboard address your server admin gives you. You can type it straight into your browser, or get a link inside Discord.
| Method | Where |
|---|---|
| Type the address directly | Browser (the most reliable) |
| Link button on the controller card | Second row of the controller card in the channel that's playing |
| Dashboard link command | Discord command box |
NOTE
You won't find the slash command that posts the dashboard link by searching for /대시보드 (dashboard). You have to type /cmd_dashboard_name in the command box to get it. The reply text and button label appear in English, but the link works fine, so go ahead and press it. The link button on the controller card goes to the same place.
Logging in with your Discord account
The first time you visit, you see a login screen that says "음악봇을 웹에서 제어해요" ("Control the music bot on the web"). There's only one button: Discord로 로그인 (Log in with Discord).
- Press Discord로 로그인.
- You go to Discord's authorization screen. Yeonhee asks for two permissions.
- Basic account information (name and avatar)
- The list of servers you've joined
- Once you agree, you return to the dashboard, and the screen opens with one server already selected.
Those two are the only permissions it asks for. The dashboard doesn't read your Discord messages or post on your behalf. Once you log in, you stay logged in for 7 days, and after that you're asked to log in again.
NOTE
If the login button appears gray and says OAuth 설정 필요 (OAuth setup needed), login isn't available yet. It isn't a problem with your account, so let your server admin know.
When you see "사용 가능한 서버가 없어요" (no servers available)
If you're logged in but see this screen, there isn't a single server that Yeonhee is in and your account is also in. The dashboard only lists servers that meet that condition.
- If you haven't invited the bot yet, you need to invite it to your server first.
- If you just invited it, press the 다시 확인 (check again) button to reload the list.
- You may have logged in with a different account. The name of the account you're logged in with is shown at the bottom of the screen, so check it.
Some servers are set so the list shows them only to people with server management permission. If the bot is definitely there but you can't see the server, ask your server admin.
The most important rule: join a voice channel first
To touch playback in the dashboard, you must actually be in a voice channel in that server. And if the bot is already playing in a channel, you must be in the same channel as the bot.
WARNING
If you're in a different voice channel from the bot, it looks like "대기 중" (idle) even while it's playing. The song title and queue appear empty too. It isn't broken. That playback isn't in your channel, so it's hidden. Move to the bot's channel and the screen fills in within a few seconds.
On the other hand, when you aren't in any voice channel, the screen shows as normal. What you can see and what you can control are separate, so if the screen looks fine but buttons get refused, you aren't in a voice channel. Join a voice channel first.
You can also tell from the notice you get when you press a button.
| Message on screen | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 이 서버의 음성 채널에 들어가 있어야 조작할 수 있어요 ("You have to be in a voice channel in this server to control it") | You're outside a voice channel |
| 봇과 같은 음성 채널에 있어야 조작할 수 있어요 ("You have to be in the same voice channel as the bot to control it") | You're in a different room from the bot |
| 먼저 Discord에서 음성 채널에 들어와 주세요 ("Please join a voice channel in Discord first") | You're trying to add a song but you aren't in a channel |
| 봇이 다른 채널에서 이미 재생 중이에요 ("The bot is already playing in another channel") | To bring the bot over, you have to do it from Discord |
How the server is chosen
The 연결된 음성 채널 (connected voice channel) card at the top of the sidebar is the server you're looking at now. Press the card and the server list opens.
- When you first come in, the server where you're in a voice channel is selected first. If there's no such server, the first one on the list is selected.
- A server you pick from the list yourself stays selected. Refreshing doesn't switch it back.
- Only when you move to a voice channel in another server does the screen follow you to that server.
- Switching servers takes about 2 to 3 seconds, and meanwhile that row shows "전환 중…" (switching…).
Each row in the server list shows the channel you're in on that server, along with the Yeonhee bots connected to voice channels on that server. On a Premium server, you can also see here which channel a sub-bot is in.
Adding your first song
- In Discord, join a voice channel first.
- Type a song title or link into the search box at the top of the dashboard and press Enter. (Pressing the magnifying glass does the same.)
- You move to the 검색 (search) screen, and results appear in three tabs: YouTube · Spotify · SoundCloud.
- Click the row of the song you want and it goes into the queue. A "대기열에 추가했어요" ("Added to the queue") notice pops up briefly.
- If the bot wasn't in the voice channel, it joins now and starts playing.
The search box isn't where you play a song directly. It's the entrance to the search screen. Pressing Enter doesn't make any sound. The song goes into the queue only when you pick it from the results list.
TIP
If you don't know what to search for, press 탐색 (explore) in the sidebar. Six playlists by tag and four popular charts by region are ready as cards. Open a card and press 전체 재생 (play all) to add the whole thing to the queue.
Handy things to know
- The dashboard and Discord see the same playback. If you skip in the dashboard, the controller card in the channel changes too, and if you use
/스킵(skip) in Discord, the dashboard updates right away. You don't need to refresh. - A new server starts at 8% volume. It's normal for the dashboard's volume slider to sit almost at the far left. If you can't hear anything, raise the slider. The maximum is 100.
- The screen state is kept in the address. Which screen you were on and what you searched for are recorded in the address, so refreshing brings you back to the same place, and the browser's back button works one screen at a time.
- 로그아웃 (log out) is at the bottom of the menu that opens when you press your avatar in the top right.
What to check first when the screen looks wrong
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| It's playing but shows "대기 중" (idle) | Whether you're in a different voice channel from the bot |
| Pressing buttons does nothing | Whether an orange warning badge is showing in the header |
| All the button icons are gone and you only see squares | It may be blocked on a work or school network. Try opening it on a different network |
| You see "요청이 너무 많아요" ("Too many requests") | You pressed too often in a short time. Wait a moment and try again |
| Your server isn't on the list | Whether the bot was invited, which account you logged in with, and whether management permission is required |
Hover over the orange warning badge in the header and its details expand. What each one means is covered in A tour of the dashboard screens.
