Pinning and combining the controller message channel

When Yeonhee starts playing, it sends a controller message (the song playing, control buttons, a queue button and a dashboard link) to that channel. By default it "follows the channel where the command was used." The controller settings let you pin it to a specific channel instead.

The settings are in the dashboard under 설정 → 컨트롤러 (settings → controller), and only server admins can open them. For the access conditions, see Who can use the dashboard.

Items on the screen

ItemMeaningDefault
현재 재생중 메시지 고정 (pin the now-playing message)Turns the channel pinning feature itself on or offOff
채널 통합 (combine channels)Whether all bots share one channelOff
고정 채널 (공통) (pinned channel (shared))The single channel used in combined modeNone
봇별 고정 채널 (pinned channel per bot)A channel set separately for each botEmpty

A newly invited server starts with both pinning and combining off.

Which channel it appears in: 3-step priority

  1. If pinning is off, it appears in the channel where playback started. That's the channel where the slash command was used, or if playback was started from the dashboard, the channel the bot was already using.
  2. If pinning is on and combining is also on, it appears only in the one shared pinned channel. If the shared channel is empty, it falls back to step 1.
  3. If pinning is on and combining is off, it appears in the first one found, in this order: the channel set for that bot → the shared channel → the channel where playback started.

What step 3 means matters. Even in per-bot mode, if no channel is set for a bot, it falls back to the shared channel. If you only turn on per-bot mode without setting channels for the sub-bots, all the bots end up in the shared channel.

Combined mode and per-bot mode

ResultEvery bot's controller piles up in the same channelOne in a different channel for each bot
Good forServers that only use the main botServers that play in several channels at once with sub-bots

The bot list shows only bots that are currently on. Sub-bots that are off don't appear in the list.

NOTE

"채널 통합" and "봇별 고정 채널" can be changed only when pinning is on. If pinning is off, both items are dimmed. If you turn pinning off and save, the shared channel value is cleared, but the per-bot channel values stay. If you turn pinning back on, the old per-bot settings come back.

Channels you can choose

The list shows both text channels and voice channels, because the chat inside a voice channel is also a place you can put the controller. Each item has a 텍스트 · (text ·) or 음성 · (voice ·) prefix, and text channels come first.

WARNING

If you get a controller channel is invalid error when saving, the channel you chose was deleted in the meantime, or the bot can't see that channel. Refresh the settings screen to reload the list, then choose the channel again. If the channel you want isn't in the list at all, first give the bot permission to view that channel.

Setting sub-bot channels is for Premium servers only

In per-bot mode, rows other than the main bot are locked with a 프리미엄 (Premium) badge on servers that aren't Premium. Sub-bots aren't assigned to non-Premium servers, so any value you enter wouldn't be used. To check Premium status, see Turning on Premium (sub-bots).

Saving creates a new controller

When you save the controller settings, this happens in order.

  1. A new controller message is sent to the target channel.
  2. The existing controller message in that channel is deleted.
  3. If the previous controller was in another channel, that one is deleted too.

As a result, when you change the channel and save, the controller in the old channel disappears and a new message appears at the bottom of the new channel.

NOTE

If nothing is playing, saving doesn't move the message. The settings are saved properly, and the controller appears in the new channel the next time the bot joins a voice channel.

The bot tidies up on its own so that only one controller message stays in a channel. Right after the bot restarts, you may briefly see several. The cleanup just hasn't reached that channel yet, so wait a moment and only one will remain.

Controller buttons and permissions

ButtonPermission needed
Previous song이전 곡 (previous song)
Pause / play일시정지/재생 (pause/play)
Stop정지 (stop)
Next song다음 곡 (next song)
Volume볼륨 조절 (volume control) (pressing it opens an input box)
QueueNone (a list only you can see)

What the permission levels mean is in The DJ role and per-action permissions. Buttons can be pressed even if you aren't in a voice channel. You only need to pass the permission level. So if you put the controller in a channel anyone can enter, it may get pressed often.

The label of the dashboard link button below the controller may appear in English. The link itself works normally.

Buttons on a controller sent by a sub-bot are handled by that sub-bot. In per-bot mode, different channels mean a different bot in charge of each channel.
