Several bots, one team
A single Discord bot can be in only one voice channel at a time in a server. That's why Yeonhong works with several bots. The more bots there are, the more voice channels can have chat read aloud at the same time.
- Yeonhong takes the commands. The other bots have no commands.
- A free bot does the reading. When you use
/join, Yeonhong picks one bot that's free right now and sends it in. - All bots share the settings. Whichever bot comes in, it reads with the same voice and the same server settings.
Bot list
| Order | Bot | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Yeonhong | The main bot. It takes commands and picks a free bot to send in. It also reads itself. |
| 2 | Yeonha 1 | Joins and reads when Yeonhong sends it. |
| 3 | Yeonha 2 | Joins and reads when Yeonhong sends it. |
| 4 | Yeonha 3 | Joins and reads when Yeonhong sends it. |
| 5 | Yeonha 4 | Joins and reads when Yeonhong sends it. |
| 6 | Yeonha 5 | Joins and reads when Yeonhong sends it. |
- Free bots are picked in this order. Only bots invited to this server come in.
- From 4.0.0, the bot you've known as Yeonha is called 'Yeonha 1'.
- If you set the main language to Japanese, the names change to Japanese too (such as
ヨンホンandヨンハ 1). - The other bots only work when Yeonhong is in the server. Invite Yeonhong first.
- Yeonha is a bot that reads chat. It's a different bot from Yeonhee, the music bot.
/join brings in a free bot
When you're in a voice channel and run /join in the text channel you want read, here's what happens.
- If a bot is already on its way to your voice channel →
Yeonha 1 is on the way to this voice channel - If one of our bots is already in your voice channel and reading this chat →
Already in use here - If the bot in your voice channel is reading a different chat
- and you called from another chat →
In use via #voice · #chat nowwith [Read this channel] [Add a bot here] [Cancel] (One more bot in the same voice channel) - and you called from the voice channel's own chat → 'Move it here?' with [Move] [Cancel]
- and you called from another chat →
- If there's a free bot → one comes in, in order. Bots that don't have permission to join that voice channel, or that can't join because the channel is full, are skipped.
- If there's no free bot →
All bots are in use right now(When all bots are busy)
Even if two people use /join at almost the same time, or someone presses a button twice, bots don't pile in.
If none of the free bots can get into that voice channel, you alone are told why.
| Reason | Message |
|---|---|
| A private voice channel the bots can't see or join | None of our bots can join this voice channel. In the channel's permission settings, allow View Channel, Connect, and Speak for the bots. |
| The voice channel is full | The voice channel is full, so no bot can join |
When a bot comes in, this is left in the text channel where you ran the command.
Yeonha 1 joined General 2 and reads #chat.See Voice channel commands for the full replies and buttons.
One more bot in the same voice channel
Use this when you want two chats read separately in one voice channel. For example, while Yeonhong reads #chat in the 'General' voice channel, stay in that voice channel and run /join in #games. Only you see this window.
In use via #General · #chat now
Closes in 30 seconds
[Read this channel] [Add a bot here] [Cancel]| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| [Read this channel] | Yeonhong reads #games instead of #chat. The voice connection stays. Yeonhong moved somewhere else. is left in #chat. |
| [Add a bot here] | A free bot (such as Yeonha 1) joins the same voice channel and reads #games. Yeonhong keeps reading #chat. |
| [Cancel] | Didn't move it |
- Bots in the same voice channel always read different chats. If a bot already reads this chat, you'll see
Already in use here. - If no bot is free, you'll see
No bot is free to send right now. Invite another bot to read a different chat in the same voice channel.and, if some bots aren't invited yet, [Add another bot]. - Only [Add a bot here] in
/joinputs another bot into the same voice channel. Auto-join never sends a bot into a voice channel that already has one of ours. /leaveremoves all of our bots in that voice channel./skipacts on the bot reading the chat you used it in.
Auto-join also sends just one bot
With 'Auto-join' on, a free bot comes in on its own when someone in a voice channel writes something. Here too, Yeonhong decides and sends just one free bot. Even if several messages are written quickly, several bots don't rush in at once. If there's no free bot, no bot comes in. Auto-join doesn't send another bot into a voice channel that already has one of ours.
If you've set 'Channels to read, per bot' or 'Voice channels, per bot', only a bot that can handle that chat and voice channel is sent. For example, if Yeonha is set to handle only #games, a message in #games brings in Yeonha.
You turn on Auto-join in the Join & alerts tab of the dashboard. With auto-join on, a bot comes back in if someone writes in that voice channel even after you removed it with /leave. If it comes back within 15 seconds, a short notice appears in chat saying auto-join can be turned off.
Each message is read by only one bot
Even when several bots are in, the same message isn't read twice.
- Each bot has a coverage. A coverage is one set of "which bot reads which text channel in which voice channel."
- If only one bot covers a text channel, that bot reads it.
- If two bots cover the same text channel, the bot in the writer's voice channel reads it.
- If the writer isn't in any of those voice channels, the bot that started covering that chat first reads it.
- When several of our bots are in one voice channel, each reads a different chat (Add a bot here). If two bots ever end up reading the same chat in the same voice channel, the one that came later quietly leaves.
Coverage messages
The bot tells you in chat which bot is covering what, like this. These messages appear in that text channel's language. → Language tab
| When | Message |
|---|---|
| A bot comes in | Yeonha 1 is on General 2 · reading #chat (attached above the AI voice notice) |
| Another bot is also watching the same chat | This chat is shared with Yeonhong (General). Each bot reads people in its own voice channel. |
| A bot is moved somewhere else (in the original chat) | Yeonha 1 moved somewhere else. |
| A bot leaves | Yeonha 1 left. |
/leave removes all bots in the same voice channel | Yeonhong, Yeonha 1 all left. |
When all bots are busy
If there's no free bot, only the person who used /join sees a message like this.

When you move a bot from another voice channel, the sentences waiting to be read in that channel are dropped. For the people in that channel, ○○ moved somewhere else. is left in the original chat.
Inviting more bots
Inviting more bots lets you use them in more voice channels at the same time. You'll find invite links in several places.

Invite links open with this server already selected. To add a bot, you need Discord's Manage Server permission. A newly invited bot changes its own name to match this server's main language.
TIP
Leave the permission checks on the invite screen as they are and authorize. You can check each bot for missing permissions under 'Check permissions' in the Bots tab of the dashboard.

All bots share the settings
| What | Different for each bot? |
|---|---|
| Your voice, nickname, pitch and speed | Same |
| Server settings (Reading, Join & alerts, Voices, Language, Words & sounds, Permissions) | Same |
| Server default voice, Word Replacement, Soundboard | Same |
| Channels to read, voice channels to join | Same at first. You can also set them for each bot |
| Voice server | Different for each bot |
Because each bot has its own voice server, if the sound cuts out you can move just that bot's voice server. Pick the bot in the bot field of /voice-server. See Voice servers for details.
To give bots different chats or voice channels, use 'Channels to read, per bot' on the dashboard's Reading tab and 'Voice channels, per bot' on the Join & alerts tab. The lists you set per bot are used only for auto-join. When you call a bot with /join, any bot can come in.
Membership
You can use the bots without a membership. You can call and use every bot in the list above without a membership.
With a server membership, everyone in that server can use Plus voices on every bot in the list above. Even when Yeonha comes in and reads, it reads with the same range of voices as Yeonhong. Server Membership (Lite) applies only to Yeonhong.
