Join & alerts tab
This tab decides when the bot joins and leaves voice channels, and how much of what happens in a voice channel it reads out. How to open it and how [Apply] works are covered in A tour of the dashboard's server settings.
Names in parentheses are the names used in the old Discord /server settings. You can search by those names too.
Joining
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-join (Auto-Join) | A free bot joins on its own when someone in a voice channel writes | Off |
| Voice channels to join | Joins only the voice channels you add | Empty (any voice channel) |
| Voice channels, per bot | A bot you set joins only the voice channels on its own list instead of the list above | All bots share the list above |
Auto-join
When it's off, the bot only joins when someone calls it with /join. When it's on, one idle bot joins the writer's voice channel if all of the conditions below are met.
- There's no bot in that voice channel yet.
- The writer isn't in 'People not to read'.
- The message matches 'Channels to read', and also 'Roles to read' and 'Message prefix'.
- The writer is in a voice channel.
- If 'Voice channels to join' is set, the writer's voice channel is on that list.
The bot that joins reads the text channel where that message was posted. Even if you have several bots, only one joins at a time. Yeonhong decides which bot joins. If you've set 'Channels to read, per bot' or 'Voice channels, per bot', only a bot that can handle that chat and voice channel comes in.
NOTE
If every bot is reading in another channel, none can join. In that case, "No bot was free to join" is recorded under 'Reading issues' on the Bots tab. Invite more bots and they'll share the work. The details are in Several bots read together.
TIP
When you turn on auto-join, it's a good idea to set 'Channels to read' too. If you leave it empty, messages in every text channel can trigger auto-join.
When a bot comes back after /leave
Auto-join stays on after you remove a bot with /leave. So if someone writes in that voice channel, a bot comes back in.
If a bot comes back through auto-join within 15 seconds of /leave, it posts a short notice in that chat that auto-join can be turned off in the server settings. Press [Open auto-join settings] in the notice to go straight to the 'Auto-join' row on this tab. The notice disappears on its own after 2 minutes and shows at most once an hour per server.
When a bot restarts, it doesn't return to its old voice channel on its own. Call it again with /join.
Voice channels to join
Pick a voice channel or stage channel in 'Choose a channel to add' to add it. It's saved as soon as you add or remove one.
- It's used only for auto-join. When someone calls the bot with
/join, this list is ignored. - If it's empty, the bot joins any voice channel. Once you add even one channel, it joins only the channels on the list.
- Press [Clear all] to let it join any voice channel again.
Voice channels, per bot
At first, all bots share the 'Voice channels to join' list above. Set a bot separately only when you want it to handle different voice channels. For example, Yeonhong can join only the general voice channel and Yeonha only the gaming voice channel.
- Pick a bot in 'Pick a bot to set separately' at the bottom.
- A group for that bot appears, starting with a copy of the current shared list. Where that bot joins doesn't change the moment you pick it.
- Add voice channels with that group's 'Choose a channel to add', and remove them with the × next to the name.
- It's saved as soon as you add or remove a channel.
- If a bot's own list is empty, that bot joins any voice channel.
- Press [Use the shared list] to make that bot follow the shared list again.
- Bots you don't set keep following the shared list.
- This list is also used only for auto-join. It's ignored when someone calls a bot with
/join.
You can also set text channels to read for each bot. → Channels to read, per bot on the Reading tab
Leaving
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Leave when quiet (Idle time limit) | Leaves with a notice when nothing is read for this long | No limit |
Choose No limit, 10 min, 30 min or 60 min, or type any value from 1 to 720 minutes in the box next to it.
If no one is left in the voice channel, the bot leaves too, regardless of this setting.
Notices
These read out what happens in the voice channel the bot is in.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Join alert (Join Alert) | Tells you when someone joins the voice channel | Off |
| Leave alert (Leave Alert) | Tells you when someone leaves the voice channel | Off |
| Screen share notices | Tells you when screen sharing starts or ends | Off |
| Camera notices | Tells you when a camera turns on or off | Off |
| Bot join notices | Announces when another bot joins | Off |
| Bot leave notices | Tells you when another bot leaves. Not for our own bots | Off |
Join and leave alerts
- Only people who join or leave the same voice channel as the bot are announced.
- When the last person leaves, it isn't announced. With no one left, the bot leaves soon too.
- The language of these alerts follows the language of the text channel the bot is reading, not each person's settings. If no language is set for each channel, it's the main language.
- People in 'People not to read' are still announced when they join or leave.
- People are called by the nickname they set. If you turn on 'Lock nicknames' on the Reading tab, they're called by their Discord name.
Screen share and camera notices
The bot announces things like "○○ started sharing their screen".
Bot join and leave notices
The bot announces when another bot joins or leaves the voice channel. Our own bots, such as Yeonhong and Yeonha, aren't announced to each other.
Earthquake & tsunami alerts
This setting only appears on servers whose main language is 日本語. The bot reads Japan Meteorological Agency announcements — Earthquake Early Warnings, earthquake information and tsunami forecasts — in Japanese in the voice channel it's in. Nothing is posted in chat.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Earthquake alerts | Reads Japan Meteorological Agency announcements in the voice channel | Off |
| Earthquake Early Warning | Alerts you right away with a chime when strong shaking is expected | On |
| Earthquake information | After the shaking, tells you the epicenter, magnitude and maximum intensity | On |
| Tsunami forecasts | Alerts you when a tsunami warning or advisory is issued or lifted | On |
| Minimum intensity for earthquake information | Reads earthquake information only when shaking reaches this intensity | Intensity 3 or higher |
| Regions | Only announcements related to the regions you turn on are read | All of Japan |
- The settings below only take effect when 'Earthquake alerts' is on.
- Choose from 8 regions: Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu & Okinawa. If none are on, all of Japan is read.
- Press [Listen] to have the bot read a sample (Earthquake Early Warning) once in the voice channel it's in. You can listen even before turning alerts on.
- Chat posted while an alert is being read is skipped. Messages that were already waiting are read after the alert ends.
- If the bot isn't in a voice channel, there's no alert.
- These settings can only be changed on the dashboard.
WARNING
Alerts come through P2P地震情報, so they may be late or not arrive at all. If you feel shaking, don't wait for an alert — protect yourself first.
