Permissions tab
This tab decides who can use which commands. All our bots, such as Yeonhong and Yeonha, follow the permissions you set here right away.
What you used to do with the old /server permission is now done on this tab. The old 'Translate' and 'Voice server change' delegations are gone. Instead, you now set a level for each command. Servers that delegated 'Translate' before can use /translate from User up until you set it yourself.
Four permission levels
| Level | Who |
|---|---|
| Admin | The server owner, people with Discord's 'Administrator' permission, and people and roles added as admins |
| Manager | People and roles added as managers. No one at first |
| User | Everyone else |
| Guest | When 'Separate guests' is on, people without a user role |
The levels go Admin > Manager > User > Guest. A command can be used by the level set for it and every level above.
NOTE
The server owner and people with Discord's 'Administrator' permission are always admins. You don't need to add them, and you can't remove them.
If someone without a high enough level uses a command, they're told something like "This command is available to Manager and above."
Adding admins and managers
The tab has separate 'Admin' and 'Manager' groups. You add people to both the same way.
- Roles: Pick one in 'Choose a role to add' to add it. Roles that only bots have don't appear.
- People: Enter a Discord ID in the 'User ID copied from Discord' box and press [Find] to see who it is. Press 'Add ○○' to add them. Bots can't be added.
- Remove an added role or person with the × next to it.
| Group | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Can change every setting and permission |
| Manager | By default, can remove or skip bots in other voice channels and use /relay and /voice-server |
User
The 'Separate guests' switch sits next to the title of the 'User' group.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Separate guests | When guests are separated, only people with the chosen roles are users and everyone else is a guest. Guests can't use commands | Off |
While it's off, the group shows 'Guests aren't separated, so everyone is a user'. When it's on, you can add roles in 'Choose a role that counts as users'. Pick at least one role to count as users. Users are set by role only. You don't add people as users one by one.
WARNING
If you separate guests without picking any user role, everyone who isn't a manager becomes a guest and can't even use /join. That's why you have to pick at least one user role to save. This is the same on the Permissions tab, in /setup and in the Setup assistant.
Being a guest doesn't mean your messages aren't read. Whether messages are read is set separately with 'Roles to read' on the Reading tab.
Level needed for each command
Each command has its own card, which says what the command does. On each card, pick '○○ and up'. The chosen level and above can use the command. In the list, the default level is marked 'Default'. If you pick something other than the default, the card shows 'Default: ○○ and up'.
| Command or feature | Default | Range you can pick |
|---|---|---|
/join | User | Guest – Admin |
/leave | User | Guest – Admin |
/skip | User | Guest – Admin |
| Remove a bot from another channel | Manager | Guest – Admin |
| Skip a bot in another channel | Manager | Guest – Admin |
| Move a bot when all are busy | Manager | Guest – Admin |
/relay | Manager | Guest – Admin |
/settings | User | Guest – Admin |
/bots | User | Guest – Admin |
/voice-server | Manager | User – Admin |
/info | User | Guest – Admin |
/user settings | User | Guest – Admin |
/translate | Admin | Guest – Admin |
/setup | Admin | Manager – Admin |
| Dashboard server settings | Admin | Manager – Admin |
| Manage permissions | Admin | Admin only |
- The
/leaveand/skiplevels are for the bot in the voice channel you're in. Bots in other voice channels follow 'Remove a bot from another channel' and 'Skip a bot in another channel'. /translateopens a window that changes 'Translate when reading' for each bot and sets the saved setting and 'Start translating when a bot joins'. → Language tab- The
/setuplevel also applies to the buttons on the first language question. - If you lower 'Dashboard server settings' to Manager, managers can also change server settings on the dashboard.
- 'Manage permissions' is always Admin. If it could be lowered, anyone could raise their own level.
Applying
The Permissions tab is saved with [Apply], just like the other tabs. Your changes are counted next to the 'Permissions' tab name and in the bar at the bottom of the screen. [Revert] also throws away the changes on the Permissions tab. Once you apply, all our bots follow it right away.
Only admins can change permissions. If you aren't an admin, you see something like "Only admins can change permissions. Your level is Manager." and can't change anything.
