Translate
This translates a message written in another language into your language and shows it only to you. Nothing is posted in the channel, so other people don't know you translated it.
How to use it
- Right-click the message you want to translate. On a phone, long-press the message.
- Choose 'Apps' in the menu.
- Press 'Translate'.
After a moment, the translation appears, visible only to you.
- You can use it only in server channels. It doesn't appear in the menu in DMs.
- The menu item is on Yeonhong. Other bots such as Yeonha don't have it.
- Anyone can use it, whatever their permission level.
- In Korean Discord it shows as '번역하기', and in Japanese as '翻訳する'.
Which language it translates into
It translates into the 'Translation language' in the dashboard's 'User settings'. If you haven't set one, it translates into your Discord language.
| Translation language | Language it translates into |
|---|---|
| My Discord language (default) | The language you use in Discord. English if it isn't Korean, English or Japanese |
| 한국어 · English · 日本語 | The language you chose |
Your translation language isn't set per server. There's one per person, and it's used on every server. How to change it is covered in My settings.
It has nothing to do with the server's main language or channel languages. The translation is only for you, so it follows your language.
The translation result
The result looks like this.
Korean → English
(translated text)
You can change the language you translate into in the dashboard's User settings
[Original message] [Change translation language]| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| [Original message] | Takes you to the original message that was translated |
| [Change translation language] | Opens the 'Translation language' field in the dashboard's 'User settings' directly |
The text around the result appears in your translation language.
What gets translated
- The message text is translated.
- For a bot message that has only a card and no text, the card's title and description are translated.
- Up to the first 2,000 characters are translated. If it's longer, 'Only the first 2000 characters were translated' is added to the result.
- Attachments such as photos and files aren't translated.
Usage limits
Translation uses a paid translation service, so there's a limit on how many times each person can use it.
| Period | Times |
|---|---|
| 1 minute | 6 |
| 1 day | 200 |
Messages already written in your translation language, and messages with no text to translate, don't count toward the limit.
If you see one of these messages
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| There's no text to translate | The message has no words, only numbers, symbols, emoji or attachments |
| This message is already in English | The message is written in your translation language, so it wasn't translated |
| You can translate up to 6 messages a minute. Please try again in a moment. | You've used all 6 for this minute. Try again in a moment |
| You can translate up to 200 messages a day. Please try again tomorrow. | You've used all 200 for today |
| Couldn't translate this message. Please try again in a moment. | No translation came back. Try again in a moment |
