Choosing a voice
You choose voices on the 'Voices' screen of the dashboard. You can preview each voice, search by name or tag, and save voices to your favorites.
Pressing [Change Voice] in Discord /user settings also opens this screen. Pitch, speed and nickname are changed in My settings.
To hear every voice on one page, see All voices.
Getting to the screen
- Log in to the dashboard with your Discord account.
- Pick the server you want to use the voice on.
- Press 'Voices' in the sidebar (on a phone, the tab bar at the bottom).
Voices are saved separately for each server. First check that the right server is picked on the screen.
Top of the screen
Your current tier appears under the title.
Current tier Plus — Personal (--) | Server (Plus)| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Current tier | The tier that decides which voices you can use on this server |
| Personal | Your account's membership tier. -- if you have none |
| Server | This server's server membership tier. -- if it has none |
Your current tier is whichever is higher, personal or server. On a server where a server membership raised your tier, one more notice appears at the top. It tells you that voices unlocked by the server membership can only be used on that server.
What each membership tier unlocks is in Features a membership unlocks.
Searching and filtering
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search box ('Name or tag') | Finds voices by name or tag |
| 한국어 · English · 日本語 | Shows only voices for that language |
| Most popular · Recommended | Changes the order of the list |
| Available only | Hides voices your tier can't use |
| Favorites only | Shows only voices you've hearted |
| Tag row ('All', '#tag') | Shows only voices with that tag. The number next to a tag is how many voices have it |
In the list, voices you can use come first, and voices you can't use are grouped at the end. The voice you use now is always first, no matter which filters are on.
Reading a voice card
Each card is one voice.
| Where | What you see | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Next to the name | 'In use' | The voice you use now for this language on this server |
| Next to the name | 'Requires Plus' · 'Requires Premium' | You can't use it with your tier yet |
| Next to the name | 'This server only' | A voice unlocked by a server membership, so it can only be used on this server |
| Top right | Heart | Adds it to or removes it from your favorites |
| Small chip | Basic · Plus · Premium | The tier that can use this voice |
| Small chip | Natural voice | Used with this voice when you turn on 'Natural voice' |
| Small chip | x2 credits | This voice uses credits. It uses credits at that multiple |
| Play button | Preview | Plays a sample. Press it again to stop |
| Next to the play button | Female · Male | The voice's gender |
| Bottom | #tag | The voice's mood or use (up to 4) |
| Very bottom | Used by ○ · ○ favorites | How many people use this voice and how many have favorited it |
Tier chips
Basic, Plus and Premium are the tier you need to use the voice. Voices above your tier still appear in the list. They're marked with something like 'Requires Premium' instead, and have no apply button. To hide these voices, turn on 'Available only'.
Credit multiplier
A chip like 'x2 credits' means the voice uses credits. With 'x2 credits', each second read uses 2 seconds of credit. 'x1 credits' is also a voice that uses credits. Voices without this chip don't use credits.
Natural voice
Voices with the 'Natural voice' chip read messages with several exclamation or question marks with more feeling when you turn on 'Natural voice' in My settings. This setting isn't used for voices without the chip.
Setting your voice
- Pick a language at the top. A voice you pick on the Korean tab is only used for Korean messages.
- Listen with the play button.
- Press a button under the card you like.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| [to this server] | Uses this voice only on the server you picked |
| [All servers] | Uses this voice on every server you're in that has the bot |
After you apply it, the result appears briefly at the bottom. If you pressed 'All servers' and some servers were skipped, you're told how many.
- Servers with 'Lock voice' on are skipped.
- Servers without the bot are skipped.
For 'This server only' voices, [All servers] can't be pressed.
Voices are saved separately for each language. If you write in Korean, English and Japanese, it's a good idea to pick one on each of the three tabs. Which message is treated as which language is in How the bot reads.
Favorites
Press the heart at the top right of a card to add it to your favorites. Press it again to remove it. Turn on 'Favorites only' to see just the voices you've saved.
- The voice you use now has no heart. 'In use' appears in its place.
- You can also save voices you can't use.
- Favorites are separate for each language.
When it sounds different from the voice you picked
| When | The voice actually used |
|---|---|
| The server has turned on 'Lock voice' | The server's default voice |
| You have a custom voice turned on | Your custom voice |
| The message was judged to be another language | The voice you picked on that language's tab |
| You tried to use a voice unlocked by a server membership on another server | The default voice |
'Lock voice' is covered in detail in "When server settings come before your settings" in My settings.
When you can't find a voice
- You're on a different language tab. Each voice only appears on its own language tab.
- 'Available only' or 'Favorites only' is on. Try turning the switch off.
- A tag or search term is applied. Press 'All' in the tag row and clear the search box.
- You picked the wrong server. Voices unlocked by a server membership can only be used when that server is picked.
If the list is empty, 'No voices match your filters.' appears.
