Voice servers

A voice server is the server that actually sends out the bot's voice. Each time a bot joins a voice channel, it picks a voice server with spare room on its own. Normally you don't need to think about it.

Only try moving to another voice server when the sound keeps cutting out or lagging. There are two ways to move.

WhereHow
Discord/voice-server [bot]
DashboardServer settings › the reading bot's row on the Bots tab › 'Move to another voice server'

What you used to do with the old /server node_status and /server node_change is now done with /voice-server.

Who can use it

At first, it can be used by Manager and above. Moving the voice server affects everyone in that voice channel, so on the Permissions tab it can only be lowered as far as User. To move it from the dashboard's Bots tab, you need to be able to change server settings.

/voice-server [bot]

If you leave the bot option empty, it shows Yeonhong's voice server. When you click the bot option, it lists only the bots in this server. Type part of a name and only bots with that name remain.

A window that only you can see opens.

If the sound cuts out or lags, try another voice server. It may pause briefly while moving.

Voice server ○○ (region) · 12 connections
[Move to another voice server]
  • '○ connections' is the number of connections from every server sharing that voice server. It isn't just your server's count.
  • Press 'Move to another voice server' to see the other voice servers available now, with their region and number of connections. Voice servers with a limit show it like '12/300 connections'.
  • Pick one and the bot moves right away. You're told "Moved ○○ to voice server △△".
  • People who can open server settings also see [Open in dashboard]. Press it to open the dashboard's Bots tab.

From the dashboard's Bots tab

On the Bots tab in server settings, a reading bot's row shows 'Voice server ○○ (region) · ○ connections'. Pick one from 'Move to another voice server' next to it, and it moves just like /voice-server.

  • After moving, you're told "Moved ○○ to voice server △△."
  • If there's no other voice server, it shows 'No other voice server to move to'.
  • If the bot is off or doesn't answer, you're told so.

Under 'Voice servers' in the dashboard's left menu, you can see each voice server's region and its status, such as Available, Moderate or Busy.

A moved voice server is used only for the current connection

The voice server you moved to is used only for the current connection. If the bot leaves the voice channel and joins again, it picks a voice server on its own again. There's no setting that fixes a voice server for each server.

If a voice server has a problem, the bot moves on its own

If the voice server in use has a problem, the bot moves on its own to another voice server that's working. After moving, it posts a notice like this in the text channel it was reading:

text
Moved to another voice server
The ○○ voice server had a problem, so we moved to △△ (region).
Everything is working normally now.
  • The notice follows the language of the text channel the bot was reading. If no language is set for each channel, it's the main language.
  • You don't need to do anything when you get this notice. The sentence being read may be cut off, but you'll hear the next one.
  • If the same notice keeps coming, let us know on the official Discord server.
