Voices tab
This tab sets which voice the bot reads with in this server, and how loud. How to open it and how [Apply] works are covered in A tour of the dashboard's server settings.
The main language and 'Translate when reading' have moved to the Language tab.
Server default voice
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Lock voice (Force Voice) | Reads everyone with the server's default voice, speed, and pitch. Personal voices aren't used | Off |
| Server default voice | With 'Lock voice' on, everyone is read in this voice | Default voice |
| Speed and pitch | Sets the speed and pitch of the server default voice. Used only when 'Lock voice' is on | Speed 1.0, pitch 0.0 |
Lock voice
On this server, each person's own voice settings aren't used. Everything follows the server's values. When it's on:
- Everyone is read in the server default voice, no matter who writes.
- Speed and pitch also use the server's values instead of each person's.
- Custom voices aren't used either.
- On the dashboard's 'User settings', a notice says that server settings take priority, so personal voice, pitch and speed aren't used.
IMPORTANT
The server default voice, speed and pitch are used only when 'Lock voice' is on. When it's off, each person is read in the voice they chose, and people who haven't chosen a voice are read in the default voice for each language. So changing only the server default voice doesn't change the voice you hear. To use one voice for the whole server, turn on 'Lock voice'. While it's off, the voice, speed and pitch fields look faded with a note that 'Lock voice' must be on.
Choosing the server default voice
There's a card each for 'Korean voice', 'English voice' and 'Japanese voice'. Each card's field shows the name of the voice that reads messages in that language. If you've never chosen one, it shows 'Default voice'. Press the field to open the 'Server default voice' window.
- The voices you can choose depend on this server's membership. The membership of the person making the change doesn't affect this.
- You can still preview locked voices. Only choosing them is blocked, and a label like 'Plus and up' shows which membership they start from.
- You can search by voice name or tag.
- The voice currently in use is marked 'In use'.
When you choose a voice, it's saved right away without going through [Apply], and you're told "Changed the server's default voice". How to browse the voice list is covered in Choosing a voice.
Speed and pitch
| Value | Range | Step | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Speed | 0.5 – 2.0 | 0.1 | 1.0 |
| Pitch | -4.0 – +4.0 | 0.1 | 0.0 |
Change them with the − and + buttons, then save with [Apply]. They only take effect when 'Lock voice' is on. If you change them while Lock voice is off, the values are saved and take effect from the moment you turn it on.
Bot sound
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | How loud the bot reads. Always used, whether or not the voice is locked | 0 (original) |
Set it from -10 to 0 in steps of 1. 0 is the original level, and lower values are quieter.
- This value is always used, even when Lock voice is off or the bot reads with a custom voice.
- You can't set it above 0. It's a setting for turning the sound down.
TIP
If the bot sounds quiet, right-click the bot in Discord and raise its user volume. It only gets louder for you.
